It's Back!

After a long wait I'm delighted that arguably the most entertaining and competitive football competition in the world starts again this week. The seeding changes that have taken effect mean the 2015/16 Champions League campaign is looking to be one of the most exciting yet.

English teams have not fared particularly well recently, but once again they have splashed serious cash (with the exception of Arsenal of course) and will expect a return on that investment in Europe.

传奇sfTonight starts off with a bang when last years finalists Juventus (5.5) travel to Manchester to take on City (1.82). City have spent the summer adding glitter to their already impressive squad, and much has turned over for the Old Lady with Tevez and Vidal replaced with Mandzukic and Hernanes. The Citizens have started the season in perfect form with five wins from five without a goal conceded, while Juventus have started slower in defence of their title.

传奇sfManchester United (2.38) return to familiar territory having missed out last year, and start their campaign away to Dutch champions and top seeds PSV Eindhoven (3.35). Memphis Depay should receive a hero’s welcome for his work in helping them to the title last season, though that might not extend to cheering him were he to score.

Other highlights for this game week include reigning champions Barcelona (1.66) traveling to the Eternal City to play Roma (6.2) and Real Madrid (1.21) hosting Shakhtar Donetsk (18.0). Chelsea (1.18) will try and put their domestic woes to one side when they face Maccabi Tel Aviv (24.0), and Arsenal (1.53) travel across Europe to Dinamo Zagreb (7.8).

If all that wasn't enough, on Thursday the Europa League proper gets going as well. Liverpool (2.62) travel to Bordeaux (3.05) with hopes of a better return on any Benteke wonder goals. And Tottenham (1.36) play the unknown quantity, but reigning Azerbaijani Champions, Qarabag FK (12.5).

传奇sfIt's great to see the return of top class European football.
